Movin' on up.. to Maine!

For those of you who don't know Jackie and Aaron, they are a military family that is moving up to Maine this week! The weather's much different than their current residence, Kentucky, but with the coastal area and all the fishing and nature there is in that area, they'll love it.

Travel safe and good luck with your move!!

Luck of the Irish... notsomuch

Well, William had his first major injury. Thankfully it wasn't too bad.

While playing at school today, he slipped and fell.

Three stitches later, the Doctor says he'll be just fine.

So, we spent the afternoon at home eating ice cream and watching his favorite movies.

Let's see, Chipped tooth at age 1, Stitches at age 3... Looks like we need to keep a close eye on this one.

William's First Soccer Practice!

It's springtime again, and in an effort to get William out of the house to expend energy, we signed him up for pee-wee soccer at the YMCA! Saturday was William's first practice.

There are about 8 children on William's team, The Blast. All boys, for now, but there were plenty of girls on the other teams. Not that it matters much right now, since pee-wees don't actually get to play games, they only practice.

The coach did a pretty good job rounding up the kids. He had them doing jumping-jacks, running around, and kicking the ball. I was impressed at how well William listened to the coach. Now if he could only listen to Ryan and I that well!!!

Anyway, William really enjoyed practice. He spent the rest of the weekend asking if he could play soccer again. Sure thing, kiddo! Next practice is April 5th! :)

A Night Out

It's been a while since we got a babysitter, so Ryan and I decided it was time for a night out. We called our favorite babysitter and got tickets to the only show we could find, Pippin!

Once the babysitter arrived, we only had to spend about 10 minutes with Megan to calm her down enough to leave. She seems to know that when the babysitter arrives, Mom and Dad are going away, and she becomes really clingy. William, on the other hand, recognized Shelby right away and ran up to her, giving her a HUGE hug! I think he likes her more than us.

Finally free, Ryan and I went to Rock Bottom Brewery for dinner, and then off to the show. The venue was small, and our seats were great. We were practically sitting in the orchestra with all the kids.. I say "kids" because, to our surprise, the show we selected turned out to be a High School production!! It was Ryan and I among parents, grandparents, and friends of these kids in the orchestra and on stage.

I have to admit, I was a little disappointed at first. In the end though, the kids at Northwest High School of Performing Arts did an excellent job. It was a fantastic musical - great singing and dancing. Neither Ryan nor I knew anything about the story of Pippin... turns out to have a pretty powerful message. I'd definitely recommend it to anyone!

Ryan Looks Like a Million Bucks. Literally!

Every day our commutes are the same. Ryan drops the kids off at daycare in the mornings, and I pick them up in the afternoon. Ryan works in the main corporate building of his company, and because of the culture of his department, his regular attire includes a suit and tie.

This morning, while Ryan was dropping off the children, a little kid in Will’s class asked Ryan if he was a Millionaire.

HA! I wish!

Ryan responded: “No, do I look like a Millionaire?” The kid thought so.

A Dinner Blessing

As we were eating dinner last night, William raised his hands to stop us. To our surprise, he started singing this little dinner blessing (in the tune of "Where is Thumbkin"):

Our Father, Our Father
Once Again, Once Again
Thank you for our blessing, Thank you for our blessing
Amen, Amen

Ryan and I were shocked. They must do this at school. It's nice to know that the daycare is teaching more than just the alphabet. It also helps us to start those habits early.

Of course, when William was done with the song, he yelled "EAT FACE".. which I'm sure is not part of the prayer, but maybe we can break him of that. :)

Megan's New Trick

While hanging out at home with a "sick" Megan, she showed me a new trick of hers. I don't think that she was realy sick at all. She just wanted to hang out at home today and do some pull-ups.

Trip to the Zoo

It was a beautiful weekend, here in North Carolina. Near 60 degrees, so we decided to take the kids to the NC Zoo.

What a fun trip! William's at the perfect age for the zoo. He knows what all the animals are and is able to request the next stops. "Let's see the elephants!", "Let's see the lions!" It was great.

Being such nice sunny, spring-like day, the animals were all out and alert (well.. with the exception of the alligator). Of all the animals, though, the polar bear really stole the show. Wilhelm, a rescued polar bear from the circus, was having a blast splashing around and playing with a big rubber ball. What a fun-loving animal!
