Thomas' Bagels

Grocery shopping is a Sunday event at the Cunningham household. Each Sunday Ryan and I pray that the kids will behave long enough to weave up and down each aisle. We get the usual stuff every week.. starting from the produce side, going to the frozen foods side, and ending at the breads section.

I'm not sure when it started, but the last few times we've gone shopping, Megan starts getting really excited when we hit the breads. If I pick up our staple Thomas' Honey Oat Bagels, she actually starts squealing!

Most times, I give the bagels directly to Megan, but if I dare to toss them into the cart, Megan is turned around fishing them out faster than I can stop her. She holds the bagels, rocks them, gives them hugs, and is ultimately upset when she has to hand them over to the cashier.

Strange huh? She's never actually eaten one. She gets oatmeal for breakfast, but for whatever reason, she loves her Thomas' Bagels.

That reaction is very funny with Megan.
Grocery shopping is a great way to improve on the kids vocabulary. Hold up an item and ask William what it is, and tell Megan this is a so and so. Shopping use to be really fun for our kids. Actually, when I did pre-school, I would take the entire class in for a learning experience, the Mom's would come back and tell me their little Johnny knows so many things at the store. Parents were impressed, and the kids loved the grocery store. We even went into the meat market department. Ha Ha that was a fun time.

Awww... I love that stage. DD1 did that with diapers, DD2 did that with wipes, DD3 did it with a gallon of milk, and DS1 doesn't care right now. I love it when it's very simple things that make them happy. :)

It's such a funny thing how kids get in a pattern, or used to a "tradition". Even when they have no real use for whatever it is, it's still part of the pattern. Plus..bagles are nice and squishy, maybe they feel good to hug?
