Bye-Bye Pacifier
Megan comes home from daycare needing a pacifier fix.
She doesn't use a pacifier at school. According to her teachers, she doesn't need it to take naps, doesn't need it between bites during lunch. In fact, apparently.. she doesn't need it all day long.. until she comes home.
At home, Megan's A #1 priority is pacifier-in-mouth. If we forgot to bring it to pick her up, she cries in the car ride all the way home. If she doesn't get it as soon as she walks in the door, she won't eat dinner, won't stand on her own two feet, and is basically a sad screamy mess.
Ryan and I have been trying to limit pacifier to sleeping only. But, anyone who knows Megan knows how determined she is. Tonight, Megan actually reached for the pacifier drawer herself. Her plan to cut out the middle man and monitor her own usage was clever but ultimately shut down by the cold hand of Mommy.
Of course, Mommy was punished for her actions. Have you ever tried to have a dinner conversation through a screaming Megan? William can talk right through it, but Ryan and I have found it pointless. It wasn't until Megan's perfectly good pork chop hit the floor that we decided enough was enough.
All pacifiers are in the garbage now. Megan witnessed the farewell. She cried herself to sleep, which breaks my heart, of course.. but she is sleeping and without her pacifier.

That's a BIG WOW!!!!!!!
I'm impressed that it is over. Having her watch the dramatic death of the "PIPE" was the best.
I bet that was harder on you than it was on her, and I'm sure after a few days she'll be feeling better.
Ours, was a bird just flew in and took it, but todays kids are a bit smarter. I'm sure Meg would ?question? that bit of information. HA Ha
Good for you! She will soon have no recollection of the pacifier and life will be better for everyone.
Whoa Nelly! I remember that bird!
Yeah for progress!
Oh my goodness - I bet that was a sad scene, but all for the best! Good job standing your ground! I did the same thing with diapers.
WOW...that was a hard night! Good for you guys staying strong. It's hard to break them. Unfortunately, Evie sucks a thumb..and I can't throw it away.
