Fun At Grandma's

William has been spending the week with Grandma and Grandpa G. Ryan and I are enjoying the extra load off while we prepare for this Adirondack trip coming up. In the meantime, William is having loads of fun playing with frogs, watering flowers, and using the slippity slide!

God Bless Jillian!

This Father's day was a special one for Uncle Craig. In addition to celebrating Father's day with his two beautiful daughters, Craig's newest, Jillian, was Christened into their church!

Ryan took the event as a perfect opportunity to fly down for a visit and meet little Jilly-Bean for the first time. He also got a chance to catch up with Mom and Dad C., Craig, Tonia, and Courtney.

His overall assessment of Jillian is that she is: 1. Cute, 2. Tiny, and 3. A happy little baby. How could she not be? Have you seen the size of her dimple??

Is This Wierd??

Our grocery store hands out balloons. All day long, some poor girl stands by the exit and fills balloons with helium. The balloons come in a variety of colors and bear the name and logo of the grocery store. I can see why they do it. It makes children happy, and it’s free advertising for them.

William, of course, asks for a balloon every time we walk by. Some days he’s not picky, but most days he asks for green. He is always very excited to get a balloon. So far that sounds normal, right?

What is odd is that when we get home, William exclaims “Put the balloon in the closet!” Sure enough, he runs to the closet door and floats the balloon in. And there it stays. Wierd???

Magic

Megan had a fever of 104 degrees on Friday. Okay, the daycare said she had a fever of 104 degrees. They exaggerate a bit.. an extra point here for an "underarm reading", and extra point there because she just woke up. Regardless, we took her to the doctor, and she did in fact have a fever.

According to the doctor, she also had a sore throat. A strep test came out negative, but the doctor was convinced that she had a virus in her throat that was causing some pain and the fever. Her remedy? Magic.

I mean that, literally! She wrote us a prescription. We took it to Rite Aid and they filled it! Who knew?

Fun with Dry Ice

After Ryan’s surgery, my mom sent a dinner package from Omaha Steaks (chicken and potatoes, yummy!) It arrived frozen in a box with dry ice. Of course, inside the box, Ryan bypasses the chicken and potatoes and heads straight for the dry ice!

He and William spent over an hour putting dry ice in cups and bowls and playing with the fog. This is what we learned:

  • Dry ice in cold water (or any water) is pretty “cool”, as William put it.

  • BUT Dry ice in hot water makes significantly more fog.

  • Dry ice sizzles when removed from water with a metal ice cream scoop.

  • And (the most fun), when placed in a cup of soapy water, dry ice creates a lot of big heavy soap bubbles filled with fog.

I think the soapy/foggy bubbles were William’s favorite part because he’d scoop up the bubbles and then pop them to release the fog.

Boys will be boys.

New Favorite Toy

Look at that face!

Megan's been pushing our kitchen chairs around for a while now, so we decided it was time to get her a walker toy.

I don't know if you can tell by her face, but she LOVES it! She pushes that thing around the whole house with a huge, open-mouthed smile. What a monkey!
