Take us out to the Ballgame!

Through my company, Ryan and I got an opportunity to see a Charlotte Knights game. What a beautiful day it turned out to be! Our seats were the very first row behind the visitor’s dugout, so we had the best possible view for the game.

Ryan and I aren’t huge baseball fans, but the Charlotte Knights has a nice stadium. They did a great job throwing freebies to the crowd and entertaining the audience between innings. Homer, the dragon, kept William pretty entertained as he traveled up and down the stadium stairs, and Megan loved the organ music. She kicked and squealed every time we sang “We will, we will, rock you!”

During the game, William was spellbound by the players on the field. He was quickly able to identify the “bad guys” from the “good guys” and he cheered appropriately when the Knight’s scored.

Sunday’s game was “kids day”, hosted by the Discovery Center. At the end of the game, William got to run the bases!

The deal was, all kids run from 1st base to Home plate, at which point they get a high-five from the dragon. They reunite with their folks and leave the field. William, went from 1st to Home and then headed back to 1st. He realized he missed the dragon, so he came back around, ran around the dragon TWICE, where he got his high-five from Homer. Then he ran back to 3rd base so he could give a high-five to the girl dragon. On his attempt to run back to 2nd base, a supervisor blocked him and sent him back Home. That kid would have run around the bases all day if we let him!

Ha ha! That sounds like so much fun! I am glad you guys had a nice day outside. It has been gloomy and rainy here.
