What is it about caves? They’re scary, they’re dark, and they’re home to creatures I wouldn’t want to come into contact with, but for some reason Ryan and I can’t get enough.
To us, caves are neat. So when we go on road trips or plan vacations, the first thing we do is look up what caving opportunities are available.
This past Adirondack trip we were able to take two caving tours! These were the kid’s first exposure to caves. So, of course, when we told William he was going to see bats and he’d be able to crawl on rocks, he was totally in.
The first cave was in Pottersville, NY. The Stone Bridge and Caves in the Adirondacks was a self-guided tour, mostly around the cave. It was beautiful scenery. We didn’t actually get to enter too many caves here, but the walk around the river was a lot of fun.

They also had a gem mining station set up for the kids. William got a bag full of gems, or “crumbs” as William would say. All of which he threw in Fourth Lake.

Hey,
I could look at the cave pictures 100 times. The kids look so beautiful and I love EC's new hair cut. It's so cute. Ryan got a cute hair cut too...
Awesome pictures! I love the ones of Ryan bringing William down the stairs...everything is kinda hazy EXCEPT William. All the pictures are wonderful and it looks really pretty up there! Dumb question... but I'm really enjoying all these pictures- what type of camera do you have?
We have a Konica Minolta (I think that's how you spell it). It's ok, but some of the REALLY good pictures were taken by my Dad's fancy camera. Those pics are the ones of the ice cream eating and the pictures around the condos of Rocky Point. We did take all the pics on our camera for the caving. But a lot came out blurry - so we deleted a bunch.
William certainly looks as though he is enjoying every minute. And, I think Megan will develope the "no fear" factor, too! Even though I don't like "creepy, dark" places, if you go again next year, I would like to join you for at least the walk around the cave. It is beautiful there!
I figured you'd say it was your dad's camera. Darn it...
I bought David a Sony 6.0 a couple of years ago that he is using. But David would be the first to tell you that the good shots come from the operator, not the camera.
